endings and beginnings – new – 3/14/13

I have grown to see that everything around me is bigger, deeper and wider than I’d imagined. I’ve noticed in the sciences (my favorite is physics) that just when the brightest are saying “we almost know everything”, is when all we know is preparing for a large, unexpected shift that opens new unexpected vistas. And as I’ve walked more deeply with God, learning to be loved and to love, which is the highest form of knowing, I’ve found the same things in myself. When I begin to feel settled, and like everything has been dealt with, another is spoken into my life that I come to love (sometimes slowly) as a key part of who I am. Continue reading

addiction – 3/7/13

I have my favorite distractions, my comfort foods, that call most strongly when I’m tired from having run a race particularly well. I want to go somewhere and hide in the warm embrace of something or someone that makes no demands, and promises joy with no pain, success with no effort, love with no knowing.
