a conversation – 10/18/12

I just had a conversation with a friend, and was reminded where life comes from.
Its not from the conversation or the understanding that comes from such conversations. Its from seeds planted, cultivated. Its from walking out what we know, think we know, or are really only guessing at. The knowing that comes from walking something out has the ability to bring to life things we didn’t know we had in us. Our understanding is only a preparation for raising up the life buried within us.

walk forward
with less talk
and perhaps take one thing
from a friend
or colleague just spoken
and go do it
walk it out
because talking it out
does more to dissuade
than persuade
and what I would really like
is the life that comes from
doing

what I would really like
is indeed to develop
the giftedness
among us
in me
in you
that we would speak it
to each other
and amplify the doing
rather than the merely speaking
and bring life
our life
into conversations
friendships
work
and play

and live in the doing
what we
have glimpsed
and are
becoming

About Clark W Johnson

I am a poet, interested in using poetry to explore my interactions with the spiritual. I find poetry captures tension, paradox and flow well enough so I can hold experiences at arms length and reflect on them from multiple vantage points. As I walk deeper with my God, I'm finding such a record invaluable for myself, and I find that pieces and parts touch others as well. I love and long for more points of contact along those lines.
