healing what ails you – 2/24/12

Matthew 4:23-25 (NKJV)
Hearing stories and letting them touch me, has been another growing edge. So easy to analyze and hold at arms length, safely distant and admired. There is a place and time for analysis, for reading for information and understanding, a quite important place. Yet the best place, is falling in love with the story, with the realities behind the story and letting it call you further up and deeper in.

Jesus went
touching what ailed
healing sicknesses
preaching a kingdom of God’s presence
and his fame spread in the region
away from the centers of power

healing people
I’ve heard of it
seen some
experienced a little
seen a break through or two
but its not part of my day to day
I’m stuck at present
trying to change attitudes
getting people to look deeper
but I may be starting
at the difficult end

its not where Jesus started
and should I shrink from this
just because it isn’t possible?

unsettling, dangerous, a little crazy
I wonder what it would take
to put me in such a place
(be careful what you ask for)

About Clark W Johnson

I am a poet, interested in using poetry to explore my interactions with the spiritual. I find poetry captures tension, paradox and flow well enough so I can hold experiences at arms length and reflect on them from multiple vantage points. As I walk deeper with my God, I'm finding such a record invaluable for myself, and I find that pieces and parts touch others as well. I love and long for more points of contact along those lines.
